What is my dermatology provider using? Ryan Crowder PA-C

When thinking of blog topics a few days ago, an idea popped into my head.  Why don’t I do a series on each of the providers at Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center highlighting their own personal skin care regimens.

Almost every week I have patients ask me about what kind of daily skin care regimen that I use.  Working in dermatology has made me extremely aware of what I put on my skin and what products are going to do the best for my short and long term skin goals.  Below I will give you a breakdown of what I currently use.  My skin type would be best described as oily, acne prone skin.

MORNING

Face Wash-  Advanced Skin Therapy Gly/Sal 5/2 Face Wash with a Clarisonic

Sunscreen-  EltaMD Clear SPF 46

Body Moisturizer-  CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

EVENING

Face Wash-  Advanced Skin Therapy Gly/Sal 5/2 Face Wash with a Clarisonic

Medicated Facial Creams-  Tretinoin Cream (Retinoid)

Facial Moisturizer-  Advanced Skin Therapy Ultra Light Hydrator (Oil-Free)

Body Moisturizer-  CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

The Advanced Skin Therapy Gly/Sal 5/2 Face Wash is excellent for oil control and exfoliation, especially when used in conjunction with a Clarisonic.  During the winter, I usually cut back on using the Clarisonic to once daily or once every other day as the weather gets dryer.

EltaMD is an excellent line of sunscreens that include the best sun defense ingredients (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide).  There is a product in the line for everybody’s skin type.  My skin tends to be oily and acne-prone, so I go with EltaMD Clear.  Elta MD Clear is oil-free and noncomedogenic.

Most any daily skin care regimen should include a cream that has a retinol or retinoid product.  Retinol/retinoids help promote cellular differentiation, improve exfoliation, and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.  Sometimes these ingredients can irritate the skin or cause dryness.  A good moisturizer used after application can help to improve this and increase tolerability.

So you may be asking yourself where you can get all of these products.  With the exception of the CeraVe moisturizing cream, they can all be found either at Advanced Dermatology & Skin Cancer Center or Revive Medical Spa.  I will post some pictures below of what products you are looking for.

Hopefully, I will be able to get more details on the skin care regimens of our other providers in the coming weeks.  If you are interested in discussing a skin care regimen or have a skin problem please set up an appointment with one of our excellent dermatology providers.  We would be happy to assist you.
