Laser skin resurfacing is a technique for dramatically reducing lines, wrinkles and uneven pigmentation resulting from aging or sun damage. Skin Resurfacing treatments restore tone and glow to your face through the formation of a completely new skin layer.
Changes associated with aging and sun exposure (photoaging) such as: fine lines, wrinkles, rough blotchy patches and deep expression lines are all suitable for treatment with the laser. These changes are not only accelerated by sun exposure, but also by smoking, alcohol and atmospheric pollution. Other conditions that can be treated include acne scars, chicken pox scars, irregular surgical scars, pigmented lesions and some moles.
Laser skin resurfacing is performed with a special hand-held laser that gently removes damaged skin one layer at a time, while simultaneously stimulating the growth of healthy new skin cells. The laser light penetrates the skin to a controlled depth until the desired results are achieved. The procedure not only removes wrinkles, lines and other imperfections, but also tightens and firms the skin, giving it a smoother, more youthful texture.
The most commonly treated areas are the eyelids, mouth, forehead and cheeks.
